Splendidly Blended podcast 27 – September 2010

For the third year we make September all about strings. I’ve always been moved by this sort of music, so we pay special attention at this time.

I couldn’t decide on one piece by Ennio Morricone so you ended up with two – I don’t think you’ll be sad about it. Gorgeous folk music from Iceland in the form of Ólöf Arnalds, who I was lucky enough to see this week – seek out her new album Innundir Skinni which also features a little appearance from label mate Bjork. One of my favourite tracks off Bonobo’s last album is here alongside a fair few Ninja Tune offerings. The classic Cinematic Orchestra/Roots Manuva track and something brand new from Ninja in the form of the much anticipated Floating Points Ensemble recording Post Suite.

We finish up with one of my favourite vocalists of all time Sarah Vaughan, stunning jazz vocals and strings.

I hope you enjoy. Back to normal next month.

  • adam says:

    Hi Adam,
I’m working on the follow up at the moment. Should be out early next year. I’ve already got a bunch of tracks written, I’m now bringing in the last few vocals (got some great guest vocals coming for this album, and some other treats).
