Soundwave – I hadn’t fogotten you

I’d hoped I could share more with you but on returning from the incredible Soundwave festival in Croatia (relocated from gorgeous Petrcane to gorgeous Tisno this year) I realised I am not cut out as a reporter, journalist, photo journalist or anything similar.

I was too busy actually enjoying all the immense music and conversations (hello Eric Lau – lets remember to educate not litigate) and cider ultimately.

On Friday morning I played with Stac, with Faye Houston and Abi on the backing vocal duties too. I got to site about 20 mins before so it was a shock performance which was followed by a sharpish trip to the beach for some swimming.

We had a Wah Wah 45s vs. First Word boat party that night too, with DJ Gilla, myself, Dom Servini, Ross PTH, and Alex (Soulist) and Pierre (Fulgeance) otherwise known as Souleance. It was big and beautiful. 4 hours at sea. I’ve wanted to do that since I went to Garden Festival for the first time 5 years ago.

On Saturday I took my own band on to the main stage for 50 mins, which was a beautiful experience. Especially thanks to the amazing guys working back stage there. So cool. Of course mosrly thanks to my amazing band Faye Houston, Paul Hodson (a man who now knows a lot of people and is never short of a toilet story), Dave Koor (a man who already knew a lot of people) and Benji Bouton (the man who has played with everyone).

Straight afterwards we had a Wah Wah 45s three hours down on the beach bar followed by making human pyramids.

On our day off, Sunday, it rained. Predictable really.

So many highlights I could mention, Amber States, Tanya Auclair, Szjerdene, Oddisee and Tranqill (Oddisee you brought a lump to my throat and a little tear to my eye, beautiful music with beautiful sentiments, unsurprisingly), big up Amelia and Put Me On It for providing exceptional Sunday entertainment (and has done a better job of documenting it in photos than me – check these Soundwave Photos).

I had my first proper conversation with Eska, at last, so lovely to speak properly with you.

I lost my mind to Matthew Halsall, lost my mind – such an incredible set and possibly my crowning point. Kidkanevil came close on the beach bar on Saturday night though too.

Anyway, hello Soundcrash, can I come back next year please? Check the video highlights I did manage to get up there ^^^

And check out just a couple of things you should grab down there  vvv
